NEXO / Research partnerships
How do
we work?
Academic rigor, practical challenges, and partnerships that create shared value.
Challenging questions.
Shared benefits.
We work with companies and public agencies to explore challenging business and policy questions. Partners bring practical knowledge of their organizations and markets. We bring economic and business research that helps turn those questions into useful evidence.
From a challenge
to useful evidence.
We begin by listening to our partners and defining the challenge together. We agree on the decision the research should inform and frame a question grounded in the organization’s context and economic theory.
We then build the evidence around that question. Statistical analysis and machine learning help us understand the data, while experiments and causal inference help assess the effects of potential changes. The research design follows the question, with careful attention to data quality and uncertainty in the findings.
We work with partners to translate the findings into practical recommendations. We discuss what the evidence supports and how it can inform action, and agree on opportunities to share the results.
Shared value.
Stronger research.
The collaboration is designed to be a win-win. Partners gain a clearer understanding of their challenges and evidence they can use to compare options. Researchers gain real-world questions and context that help advance knowledge.
We want that value to extend beyond the partnership. The resulting insights can inform better business practices and public policy, helping strengthen industry and improve outcomes for society.
